THE OPPORTUNITY
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is expected to build positive relationships with our clients by understanding their needs and forming a practical plan for how to meet those needs. Their day-to-day involves identifying target leads, closing deals, developing new accounts, and ensuring repeat business from existing clients.As our sales leader, the BDM is ultimately accountable for generating the company’s revenue and making a positive impact on our bottom line. Working closely with the estimator and project operations, they are responsible for seeking out and bidding on viable projects.
Success will be driven by their professional and technical knowledge of the commercial and industrial sheet metal and construction industry.

Estimating Objectives
- Fulfill estimating procedure requirements by promoting HVAC services to prospects for new accounts, then relay project scope to the estimator.
- Review duct and labour estimates by the estimator and ensure all details of the project scope have been included in the costing.
- Participate in the review of final cost reports with project team and develop the estimating database to accurately reflect actual historical costs.
- Submit quotations, finalize contracts, and provide follow up that ensures accuracy of all details and verifies that nothing has been forgotten or overlooked in contracts.
Operational Strategy
- Meet revenue goals as identified in our annual business plan.
- Collaborate with management team to develop sales strategies and objectives, taking into consideration our competitors, industry pricing and products, current market pulse, and future market trends.
- Lead company sales forecasting by researching, developing, and maintaining short- and long-range sales and marketing plans.
- Identify strategic leads/opportunities and help develop complex project bids with a focus on securing medium to large commercial HVAC projects.
- Record, analyze, and interpret sales data; communicate results through regular sales reporting for management team.
- Achieve and maintain technical capabilities at required levels: participate in sales meetings, vendor seminars, and training to enhance and maintain current knowledge on software, products, industry trends, government compliance, and related professional skills.
People Management
- Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with clients, subtrades, and contractors.
- Identify sales leads, follow up to create new accounts, understand the customers’ needs, and ensure repeat business from existing clients.
- Manage external marketing professionals, including planning and organizing, to promote fabricated sheet metal product sales and installations.
- Field incoming requests for service quotes including labour, repairs, equipment, and ongoing maintenance jobs.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- three (3) + years of experience estimating for a commercial ventilation company, required
- excellent understanding of HVAC designs, required
- proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), required
- extensive experience in commercial ventilation (fabrication and installation), preferred
- proven track record of identifying new sales opportunities and closing deals, preferred
- business development and/or sales and marketing experience, considered an asset
- project management experience within commercial construction, considered an asset
- experience using Trimble Autobid SheetMetal and Corecon, considered an asset
* Must hold valid driver’s license.

Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, Day Shift (office hours: 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM)
- May require occasional weekend and/or evening hours
